Regular ear health checks are key to maintaining healthy hearing, identifying changes early, and accessing support when needed.
If you have ear pain, discomfort, or hearing loss, our prescribing pharmacist offers an examination using the Tympa Platform to capture high-definition images and videos of your ear. As trained prescribers, they can:
If you have no symptoms but want to monitor your ear health, an accredited Tympa staff member will:
We offer a basic hearing check to assess your hearing health. This involves wearing headphones and listening to sounds at different volumes and pitches to determine the quietest sounds you can hear and identify any potential hearing weakness.
Your hearing check results are shared and reviewed by an ENT or audiology specialist at TympaHealth. Based on their assessment, they may recommend a referral to an audiologist for further evaluation.
If a referral is recommended, Hidden Hearing will contact you to arrange a free, one-hour diagnostic hearing assessment.
Following this assessment, the audiologist may provide recommendations, including the option of private hearing aids. If you choose not to proceed with private treatment, your results can be sent to your GP for an NHS Audiology referral, ensuring you receive the most appropriate care for your needs.
The natural production of earwax aims to cleanse the ear canal and safeguard the tympanic membrane (eardrum) from debris. It usually passes out of the ears harmlessly, but sometimes too much can build up and block the ears.
Some people regularly get blocked ears because they naturally produce a lot of earwax. Earwax can also block your ear if you frequently insert objects into your ear canal, such as cotton buds, ear plugs or hearing aids.
A build-up of earwax can often be treated using eardrops (available via NHS Pharmacy First Scotland Service), but that doesn’t always work, and that’s where our removal service can help.
Removal offers rapid relief from associated symptoms of pain, discomfort, and hearing impairment.
We use the micro-suction technique, the gold standard for earwax removal. It’s quicker and safer than other methods of removal. It is easy to get a clear view of the ear canal and eardrum. A suction device is then used to remove wax.
