Pharmacy Student Placement

Our summer placement scheme is available in all of our pharmacies across Scotland.

Initially, we would look to offer a placement of your choice for one week. During this week we will provide you with a workbook to ensure that you gain the skills and knowledge required to ensure you have a good understanding of what the role of the community pharmacist is within Scotland and Davidsons Chemist in particular.

A workbook folder is provided at the start of your placement, which provides a summary of what the placement entails, along with any additional material you may need throughout your learning experience.

You are expected to work mostly in the dispensary and at the healthcare counter. However, since it is your experience, you need to take the initiative to look out for new opportunities where you are able to gain the necessary competencies. If there are any problems or suggestions, the tutor is there to support you, listen and provide advice.

The first week is an unpaid internship but there are opportunities for this to be extended in agreement with your tutor and myself and head office and this would attract a salary.

We also offer Saturday positions in our branches and ask that you search for these on our website as these are very popular and are filled very quickly.
