Meeting The Team – Friockheim

Nestled in the idyllic countryside a few miles outside Arbroath is our Friockheim (pronounced free-come) branch, serving the local village and surrounding area. We have a small team here and are very proud of the service we strive to give our patients, ensuring that they receive the utmost care and compassion. We are very fortunate to have our wonderful patients and customers in Friockheim, who regularly pop in for a chat and often bring us sweet treats, which are greatly appreciated. We feel very much part of the community and always do our best for our patients.

Michael is our Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber, offering prompt advice and assistance with medications or common clinical conditions, so you can see him without booking an appointment. He’s a dab hand when it comes to travel vaccinations, as well as a moderate hand at golf! All our staff can help you with blood pressure testing, smoking cessation, and over-the-counter advice for minor ailments. Kim, our Healthcare Supervisor and Accuracy Checking Assistant, is our over-the-counter queen. When she isn’t busy being a mum, “taxi driver” to her daughters, or putting the kettle on, she can source any of your must-have health and beauty products, tell you which supplier a product comes from – and can even rattle off the page number from the catalogue! Chloe is our Dispensary Supervisor and a firm favourite with our patients. MCR or Serial Scripts might as well be named MCR Medication by Chloe Service, as she’s proactive and on the ball, making sure our patients have their regular medication. When she isn’t at work, Chloe is a busy “soccer mum” and always has a fun-filled weekend planned. Sarah is one of our Pharmacy Assistants and our unofficial IT guru. Outside her busy days at Friockheim, Sarah is usually tending to her husband’s herd of cattle and being a mum. Nicki, another of our Pharmacy Assistants, always goes above and beyond in her role. She regularly helps at the Arbroath branch and is considered very much part of their team too. In her spare time, Nicki enjoys going swimming with her daughter and is a dark horse on the karaoke! Susan is the final piece of our puzzle. As a Pharmacy Assistant, she is a dispensing machine and is currently working her way through the dispensary assistant course. When not dispensing, Susan enjoys looking after her granddaughters or trying (and failing) to tire out her young puppy.

In May 2022, the Friockheim Health Centre closed, causing a lot of uncertainty and upset in the community. However, with the help and guidance of Michael and our team, we supported our patients through the transition to their new surgeries, ensuring they had their medication and any support they needed. Since the closure, we have built new relationships with other surgeries and now work closely with the surgeries in Arbroath, Forfar, Montrose, and Brechin. Over the years, we have raised as much money as possible for Davidson’s nominated charities through our permanent in-branch book sale, raffles, and bake sales. Last year, we raised £900 for Endometriosis UK, a charity close to our hearts as Sarah has suffered from the disease for years.
